It is very important to understand the difference between disease and wellness because our health depends on this awareness to truly bloom! Society has taught us to be more conscious of sickness than wellness, and this has greatly affected our approach to healthy living. From Doctors to the patients who run to them for the slightest symptoms, almost everyone seems to prefer the reactive approach to tackling diseases. In doing this, they ignore the primary reasons for affliction and focus on trying to tackle the secondary ones. Of course, this approach works sometimes but at other times, it has no impact on chronic diseases. This is the reason why the ongoing shift from disease consciousness by health insurance companies is a welcome development. What they do is make things like naturopathy, nutrition and the likes more accessible by all. Being more conscious of wellness implies that you’re always looking for ways to prevent diseases from taking charge over your body. This is a proactive approach that involves identifying the possible root causes of diseases and based on my personal experience of recovering from a chronic disease, using natural remedies to tackle identified causes. In my opinion, people will manage their health better if they’re aware of the most common causes of diseases, as well as the corresponding treatments. There are some easy conventional ways innovative ways of looking out for diseases and once identified, there are nutritional, herbal, homeopathic and other innovative treatments to quickly choose from. For years, I have applied the theories of wellness gathered from my food and nutritional science background in clinical practice, and I can boldly tell you that our external environment (EE) is connected and always in touch with our internal environment (IE), the latter comprising 75 trillion cells including the mind. The IE connects with the EE through skin contact, ingested food, respiration, etc.; in the same way that Wi-Fi emits radiations that govern the cell phone environment, our organs of sensory perception emit impulses that help our EE to stay in touch with our IE. The way these impulses are perceived by the mind determines whether the resulting responses will be positive or negative, relaxing or a stressful. The EE significantly influences our mind and mental well-being. In the same way that cellular functions can become imbalanced as a result of chemical influence, diseases can become activated as a result of toxic emotions that create imbalances on our biochemical processes. There’s so much to discuss about the wellness mentality and how to use it effectively in ensuring total wellbeing, but not at the moment. One thing to bear in mind, though, is the fact that constant application of what you have learnt so far in your daily life will open up your mind to more and more ways of staying well.
